I Made It!

Well, I finally made it here! I arrived in Sydney early in the morning on Sunday, June 1st and couldn't be more excited to be with Ron in this beautiful place. I have to admit that this was the smoothest international flight I've been on, and thankfully my luggage arrived right on time with me - so thank you for those of you who have been praying for this trip. Of course, the best part of getting off the plane was getting to see my husband after our 6 weeks apart!

My first day in Sydney begin with...a nap. Yep, after all that sleeping on the flight, apparently I needed some more! Although, the jet lag has subsided fairly quickly. I woke up to Ron saying, "Get up, get up, get up!" and so we were off for my first day of exploring. We "officially" began the day with a walk to Centennial park. What an amazing park! There are exotic birds everywhere, and I just kept telling Ron that this was the most beautiful park that I had ever been to. I will probably be doing most of my marathon training around this park, so I'm just really looking forward to taking it all in.

In my first three days here, I have walked 12 miles and ran another 5 - not bad for three straight days of raining (Apparently, my two feet will be my primary mode of transportation - not that I mind much!) However, late last night, we were thankful to have a reprieve from the rain for a few hours and took full advantage of it by enjoying a nice night out on the harbour - the Sydney Harbour, that is! It was a beautiful night as Ron and I and a few of his colleagues and friends ate at a restaurant with a wall of windows over looking the harbour and more specifically, looking over the harbour bridge we will be climbing together for Ron's 30th birthday (In case you're curious, here's the website of what we'll be doing: www.bridgeclimb.com). We then took a walk down further into the harbour where Ron and I together got to see the Sydney Opera House for the first time (yep, he waited for me!). It is such a stunning site at nighttime! I really can't say enough how impressive it is to see at night. I will try to post pictures of it as soon as I have a chance. It was a very relaxing and wonderful night with good company. By the time we got into our taxi and headed home, like clockwork the rain resumed, but at least we were able to enjoy the best of the night. That's it for now, but I will be sure to post more pictures.

Take Care and God Bless,
Nikki

It's been rainy here too, so you haven't missed much. :)
